With the increasing amount of PV module manufacturers the diversity in PV modules is enormous. Certification institutes play an important role in assessing the performance and reliability of PV modules. Our steady state solar simulators allow certification institutes to execute a very wide range of performance and weathering test procedures. Stabilization, performance measurements at STC, NMOT and low irradiance, and hot-spot testing can be performed with one solar simulator. This increases ease of operation, and decreases the measurement uncertainty.
The equipment is suited for photovoltaic (PV) module and solar thermal certification, including IEC 61215:2016, IEC 61730-1/2, and EN 12975-2 (Solar Keymark) ensuring that tested modules comply with these international standards. PV certification institutes test a wide variety of modules. Therefore a test system is needed that measures all the latest technologies without having to worry about possible measurement errors. Traditional flash test systems often suffer from transient errors because the light pulse is too short for modules with a capacitive response (PERC and HIT are examples). With the steady-state illumination of the Eternal Sun solar simulators, every PV module is tested with the lowest measurement uncertainty.
